ENROLLMENT AT BIRCHTREE

Birchtree welcomes new and returning families each spring as we prepare for the upcoming school year. Our enrollment process is designed to be clear, fair, and supportive for all families. Below is an overview of how enrollment works, along with the required enrollment forms.

ENROLLMENT OPTIONS

Birchtree provides a public charter school, Waldorf-based educational program for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Growing from 220 students when we opened in 2010, we now enroll over 400 students in our half-day kindergarten and full-day 1st – 8th-grade in-person program.  Beginning with the 2026 – 2027 school year, we will offer a homeschool hybrid program with an anticipated starting enrollment of 30 students growing over the next few years to a capacity enrollment of 100 students.  Parents may submit enrollment forms for the in-person program, the homeschool hybrid program, or for both programs with the specific program enrollment to be determined through the lottery process.

ENROLLMENT STEPS

1

How to Start

  • Families of currently enrolled students let us know if their child(ren) will be returning for the next school year by completing an Intent to Return form.

  • Families who are new to Birchtree share their interest by submitting an Intent to Enroll form.

  • Once returning students are accounted for, we determine the number of available seats at each grade level.

  • If interest exceeds the number of available seats, enrollment is determined through a public lottery.

Lottery Procedures

  • The lottery fills all available seats and creates a waitlist for each grade level.
